About Us

What does WAVES stand for?

WAVES stands for Welcoming A Valued Experience in Spirituality.  This is the mission and goal of the youth ministry here at Holy Spirit Church.  We strive to enrich the spiritual lives of high school and college students, and to provide them a safe and supportive environment where they can grow in faith while sharing their faith with others through teaching, social interaction, community service, and parish support.

Program Involvement

The WAVES is an all encompassing group of volunteers who directly impact or are impacted by the following programs.

Confirmation: WAVES has most directly impacted the growth of the Confirmandi on their journey through the Sacrament of Confirmation.  We teach classes, lead activities on and off retreat and most of all, use our skills that we have learned throughout the years to bring the Confirmandi to a presence of faith and deeper love for the Body, Mind & Spirit.

Youth Choir: The Holy Spirit Youth Choir consists primarily of members who are in Jr. High and High School, and some who are in college.  Many of its members are also part of the Faith Formation program either as students, or as Confirmation teachers, teaching assistants and youth leaders.  But, it is open to everyone.   The only requirement is a love for music and being with friends.  The Youth Choir meets every Tuesday beginning at 7pm in the church, and sings every Sunday at the 5pm mass, and on special feast days and concerts.  No experience is necessary.  We are also looking for people who play instruments, including drums, guitar, keyboards, percussion, etc.  If you have any questions, contact Neil

LAKE: A group of volunteers established by Dn. Bill Drobick who have the willingness to learn the skills of becoming a WAVES Leader.  The program serves as an interim between just being confirmed and their involvement in other parts of the youth ministries while subjecting each of it’s members to real life experiences that will further their skills in the WAVES program (i.e. Lectors, EMs, CMs, Leaders, Teachers, etc.)
